Wedding Tips

Here are some quick tips for shooting Weddings:
  • When shooting Low-Light in a Church increase the digital camera's ISO (the digital film speed). Most digital SLR cameras will let you shoot at very high ISOs with little visible noises (particular the Nikons and Canons brands). The ISO speed should be set to at least ISO 800, but you might get better results by going as high as ISO 1600 in most situations.

The bride is the hightlight or main focus of any wedding. Your job is to make sure your main focus at the pre-wedding, the formals, cermony and reception is the bride.

You should stay focus on the bride and follow her around like you were shooting a main event or something.

The bride sells the photos and the wedding and you want to always make sure she is the shining star if you are planning to sell photos.

Natural light shining through a window could bring to light a bride at her best moment. The key to natural light is that you have to find it and once you do, you must know how to use it. One of the most interesting things about natural light is that it is hard to mess up a photo using it because its there and you don't have to create it.

Try finding a window that doesn't have direct sunlight, usually windows facing opposite of the sun or north or south for some soft, diffused light.

In order to get a great shot at the bride, try positioning her about 6 to 8 feet from the window, so that the light would shine evenly and softly upon and around her. This is a excellent way to shot some pre-wedding shots of the bride by herself, with her mother and father.
